Lauhala and Lei Hulu Workshop  – THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!

  • Join cultural practitioner Kumu Aloha Kekipi to learn about the art of lauhala weaving and lei hulu (featherwork). Kumu Aloha has worked in the Kūpuna Program, Office of Hawaiian Education, Department of Education for over 30 years. Participants will learn basic weaving and lei hulu techniques and will leave the workshop with beautiful and useful handmade items.

‘Ūkēkē Making Workshop – THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!

  • Join Hui ‘Ūkēkē A‘o for a hands-on ‘ūkēkē making workshop! ‘Ūkēkē, the only indigenous string instrument of Hawai‘i, is used for mele ho‘o‘ipo‘ipo, oli and hula. Participants will learn about the art of making and playing ‘ūkēkē.  All materials included.  You do not want to miss this special opportunity! 
  • Hui ‘Ūkēkē A‘o is a group of friends whose mission is to learn and share about ‘ūkēkē, with the goal of normalizing the making, playing and composing for ‘ūkēkē.

Palm Bark Basket Workshop – back by popular demand! – THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!

  • Join O‘ahu based multimedia artist and cultural practitioner Tamsen Fox to learn how to make a basket out of palm bark.  Turn a natural resource into something beautiful and useful.  Everyone will make a hanging basket but there may be time to make more than one, or a stand-along basket as well.
