Paper Club: Makery – Make Paper, Then Books Using Collage and Printmaking

  • Friday Apr 10 & Saturday Apr 11, 9am-12:00 pm

  • 2-day session: $75 (includes $15 material fee)
  • On Friday, come and pull as many sheets of unique handmade paper that you can. Then, on Saturday, use your unique handmade paper to make and decorate a book. This class combines the art of papermaking, bookmaking, collage and simple printmaking.
  • Participants will experience the fun and discovery of making a collaborative handmade book.  Every book will feature a page by each of the six participants.  Each participant will go home with one of the books made by the group.
  • For intermediate papermakers and above. Must complete one intro to papermaking class with Allison to join MHC Paper Club. Participants will be responsible for helping to set-up and clean-up.
  • Limited to 6 participants. Minimum of 4 necessary to run the open studio.

Paper Club: Casting Forms
  • Sat May 2, 9am-1pm (9-11 am papermaking; 11-1 casting on brought objects
  • 1-day session: $45 (includes $15 material fee)
  • For the first two hours, pull as many sheets as you can. Then, using objects brought from home, transform your paper into shaped forms by wrapping wet paper in and around your item. Participants may also cast an object using dry paper and methylcellulose.
  • Recommended objects to bring: water bottle, banana, ceramic bowl, small basket, hammer, cups, etc.
  • For intermediate papermakers and above. Must complete one intro to papermaking class with Allison to join MHC Paper Club. Participants will be responsible for helping to set-up and clean-up.
  • Limited to 6 participants. Minimum of 4 necessary to run the course.
