Workshops available at Mānoa Heritage Center for the months of February and March. All participants must pre-register for workshops. No refunds 3 days before class begins and no walk-ins.


Ma Ka Hana Ka ʻIke Workshop

Botanical Workshop with Moani Hibbard

Saturday, March 20, 2021*

9am – 12pm

1 session $35 (includes materials)

Join Moani Hibbard and take a journey outdoors to recharge, give back, and create. In this workshop, you will create your very own botanically infused oil and therapeutic rollers. Explore and learn about native Hawaiian herbs and other beneficial plants. We will start in the Mānoa Heritage Center garden giving back to the ‘āina, before moving to the classroom to create. 

All participants will need to bring their own 8 oz. glass jar.

Papermaking

Paper Club: Flax!

Flax is one of the oldest cultivated crops, native to the region of the world extending from the eastern Mediterranean to India. Used primarily throughout history to make linen, paper made from flax is strong and smooth, yet translucent. Come and join us to make paper from this unique fiber. 

For intermediate papermakers and above. Must have taken Intro to Papermaking to join Paper Club. Participants will be responsible for helping to set-up and clean-up.  

Limited to 4 participants. Minimum of 2 necessary to run the studio. 

Paper must dry overnight and can be picked up on Monday, March 1 between 9am and 4pm.

Intro to Papermaking

Learn to create unique sheets of (Western-style) paper with moulds and deckles and a variety of fibers pulped in a Hollander beater.  Be prepared to get wet, have fun and make sheets of paper that can be used for drawing, painting, printmaking and 3-D constructions.

No prior experience necessary. Open to beginners and advanced paper makers.

Paper can be picked up on Monday, March 29 between 9 am and 4 pm.
